on the first day of december.... i made a pom-pom garland. and, i have an idea!

This isn't an original idea of mine.  I have to come clean right from the get-go.  I saw it here a long time ago (and maybe at Anthro first at some absurd price) and since then was like, "I have to do it."  So, I got the felt balls last year (Like how I was all, "wait and see" about them?  Glad you didn't hold your breath.).  Then I thought about it for, oh, the whole year.  Then I got the hemp and needle two weeks ago.  And at long last, I did it.  That's how crafts work here.  I have to think about them for a long, long time.  If they stick in my head 365+ days, then I know it's a worthy one.

Finally, I saw this pin... had some beach-wood (is that what you call it?) from our favorite beach, and combined the two.  I think I might still like the original pin better, but whatevs.

Oh, and I might keep it up all year long.  It makes my kitchen window a bit cheerier.

And now for my idea...

I like do-it-yourself... A LOT.  I get giddy pinning things that are DIY.  I'm like the Herbal Essences commercial up in Pinterest's grill, "Yes, Yes, YES!"  But, as I've already made clear, I'm not the quickest to get 'er done.  So, if you have some fantastic Christmasy DIY, directions and pictures, would you send them to me?  I'd like to feature some over the next few weeks... between now and Christmas.  I won't be posting too many cause maybe you guys aren't as DIY-obsessed as I am.  But, like I said, I am.  And I run the show here.  So send them to me, please!

Oh yes, my e-mail: bridget.c.hunt@gmail.com.

Bridget, I'm have to say, that I'm as impressed with your graphic as I am with the actual garland. Well done. Are you cats going to be in the City at all this holiday season?

i want my holiday gifts to show my bitterness. no, wait. i want to MAKE bitters: http://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/woodland-bitters

it's not just do-it-yourself; it's drink-it-yourself.

Bridget said...

@yellow finch, YES. i spent too much time at the kitchen sink (Sad face) for it to not be a little more fun?

@brparys, drink it yourself is the best kind. and did you know i'm seeing your other half today?!

@bridget: i did! (tho technically you're seeing my other two-thirds...). i'm jealous. but, mostly i'm just excited that my car-less wife is getting a social call during the day. thanks so much for making time for a visit!

Love this! Thinking I need to decorate above my kitchen sink too... I think I spend 3/4 of my time standing in front of it :)
Have a good Thursday!

I love diy - and especially when you see it at someplace like anthro or free people and know you can make it for soooo much less!

Lovin' what you did! xo Ashlyn

Torie Jane has the best DIY's this side of the blog world. She just gave a step by step tutorial of a wooden advent calendar and it was off the charts.

I love this! Especially all the colors - Christmas is too great to only use red and green!

I just made a super cheap and easy wreath out of book pages this weekend. Take a look...

I made some felt garland from pinterest recently too!! I loooove it and love that I made something anthro sells for a FRACTION of the price! I really like it wrapped around the beach wood! Sooo cute! I have mine hanging from the fireplace mantle! Yaayy for DIY!

and PS West Elm is selling handmade-etsy inspired Christmas decor right now much of which is made with felt balls...kind of anthro looking but for much less than anthro sells! :) I bought the felt ball wreath in one of my pics here: http://domesticjenni.blogspot.com/2011/12/before-and-after-part-1.html
I was thinking of hot glueing some of my left over colored balls into the wreath to give it some color...

This is awesome! I've been meaning to do something similar for like a year but I haven't even bought the balls yet. Yesterday I made my own wrapping paper out of recycled materials that I posted on my blog today. It got me out of the worst mood. Crafts are great like that!

I like yours way better than the pin. (no offense to pin) and now totally want to copy it.
But probably won't until next year.
Because I have 23 days left to make gifts and things for people and I know I will be running to Target for leftover crap on Dec 22 because I didn't get enough done.
But it's good to have plans for next Christmas.
Love from,
Greta
